Atlas's Starter Network bundle is designed for businesses that are too small for traditional server options, but still want the convenience of centralized file storage and backup, and the security of a time-tested firewall. The Starter Network bundle includes the following:
- A special version of our Workgroup Server. Instead of running Windows, this server is powered by an open-source operating system—meaning that there is no licensing fee for the server or per-user access fees.
- Daily backup to an external hard drive using open-source backup software. The backup drive will be rotated weekly to our secure offsite storage location (a small monthly fee applies for this service).
- Centralized anti-virus and anti-spyware software delivered to all systems on the network and managed online by Atlas.
- An entry-level version of the Atlas firewall.
- Wired and secure wireless network setup using entry-level network equipment.
The Starter Network is usually paired with a Value Desktop for each user. Atlas can also provide printers and multifunction devices that print, scan, and fax.
The following are available as options in the Starter Network bundle (or, to get all these features and more, upgrade to the Standard Network bundle):
- Virtual Private Network (VPN) support for secure remote access.
- Support for dual (redundant) Internet connections.
- Email services (hosted and on-premises options available).
- Active system monitoring
